Student Scholarship

The CO-ALAS Scholarship was created through the generosity of the members, representing the Board and Delegates. This scholarship helps foster the college and career-bound culture within the state and will provide five scholarships to Latino students this year.

Since its inception in 2009, CO-ALAS has supported current and aspiring educators in developing leadership and fostering the growth of the next generation of educational leaders. CO ALAS is now expanding its support to include our youth with their initial year at higher education institutions for their career path.

CO ALAS will offer five (5) $1,000 scholarships and five (5) $500 scholarships to be announced early May 2023 and will be paid directly to the student.

Applicant Criteria

Students must meet the following requirements:

• Must be accepted at an accredited college/university/technical school*;

• A cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5;

• Identifies of Latin American/Hispanic descent

• Demonstrate one or more of the following

  • Leadership, 

  • Employment, 

  • Community engagement,

  • Volunteer work, 

  • Extracurricular activities and,

  • Family responsibilities you have been engaged in

• Applicants must be a graduating senior, Class of 2023, from a Colorado High School

Application Requirements

Students must provide the following information for their application to be considered for this scholarship award:

• Submit a completed application to CO-ALAS Scholarship Committee;

• Provide a copy of high school transcript;

• Provide one (1) letter of recommendation; and

• Submit an essay, presentation, or creative art medium (video, music, poetry, artwork) that demonstrates how a college-level education can create an impact in your life. This submission should reflect our highlighted values of:

  • Education/Pursuit of Knowledge

  • Equity & Inclusivity

  • Fostering Strong Relationships (Family, Community, Etc.)

  • Leadership & Responsibility
